Mater launches new side table made of Indian marble – crafted in small local workshop

Developed as an extension of the Disc Table in FSC certified oak wood, the Marble Disc Table is a natural and unique side table. This versatile side table is characterised by a minimal aesthetic and stringent style created with a table top in rich Indian marble and steel legs.

Millings underneath the table top ads a light expression to the heavy material. The marble table top is handcrafted using a traditional lathe, thereby machining a sophisticated curved under structure – an ancient local technique used in small workshops across Rajasthan, India.

The table is available in two marble variations; jungle green and jungle brown marble, that originates from India and is a very prominent stone found in the state of Rajasthan, India. This marble is derived from the serpentinite stone that lies between marble and granite in terms of hardness and durability. Characteristics in veining and movement of the pattern will tend to vary between various blocks from which the stone is extracted, making every piece unique. The colour of the marble derive from various mineral impurities such as clay, silt, sand, iron oxides or chert which were originally present as grains or layers in the stone.
